COBIA,KINGS,JACKS offshore rig fishing SABIKI RIGS 30milesOUT fISH'N TV

on this episode of 30milesOUT, i ( ty southerland) head down to port o' conner , texas to do some offshore oil rig fishing... my buddy chicago steve and his family joined mine in poc for a little fun... on the second morning, steve and i saw the seas were right, so we headed off shore to the oil rigs to see what we could find... we left out of froggies bait shop and boat launch at day break... we headed past bird island and out the big jetties in hopes of big fish! the seas were 2' or less and looking great!
half way out to the first big rig we saw a color change... the water went from green to cobalt blue! i call that the blue break... i knew that meant a great trip for us... sail fish, snapper, wahoo, tuna, mahi mahi etc love this blue water.... when we got to the oil rig and hooked up the rig hook, we were blown away by the water clarity... we had only gone out about 10 miles in my blazer bay 2170... the boat i have in this fishing video is a bay boat... not an offshore boat like a hydra sport or something... i just spent some time rigging my bay boat for offshore fishing... if really did the job... this blazer bay had a suzuki 140hp 4 stroke motor on the back, a custom 5x7' t top and a minn kota trolling motor.. we were ready for anything!
the water could see 40-50' down.. water looked great... the thread fin herring were in a massive school around the boat... steve and i busted out the sabiki rigs to catch all the bait we could need... if you have never seen a sabiki rig, check out this vid... its a super good way to fill the live well... we hook up to shark, king fish, jack crevalle, snapper, cobia to name a few... what a great trip... so ride along with steve and i and hit the texas oil rigs and do some serious blue water fishing !
